BMC will appoint a consultant to draft the design and estimate the cost of the new flyover

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Bridge Department will soon appoint a consultant for the cost estimate and design of a new bridge connecting the Senapati Bapat Marg (Tulsi Pipe Road) to the Western Express Highway (WEH).

The bridge was planned a long time ago; however, the project never took off for several reasons. This new bridge will allow motorists coming from Lower Parel and Dadar via Mahim to go directly to WEH. Motorists should witness heavy traffic on Tulsi Pipe Road, then take the narrow Mori Road. They will then need to connect to the SV road between Mahim and Bandra before joining the motorway.

As a result, motorists will no longer have to take detours that caused a delay of about 20 minutes, as the new bridge will reduce travel time.

The city official said commuters heading to Bandra Reclamation or Sea Link from Mahim station can use the bridge. However, the project will require environmental approvals from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority and the State Expert Assessment Committee.

The plan is still in its early stages, but a draft is being worked out and there will be two exits on the north and south sides. However, the consultant will technically design it, assess the cost and ensure that there is a minimum impact on the environment.
